My research area is comparative syntax, focusing on clausal architecture, movement, ellipsis, and the syntax~phonology interface in human languages.
I am also involved in language revitalization and documentation with the Indigenous Languages Group (ILG) at California State University, Fresno. Information about our language documentation and revitalization efforts with local communities can be found at the ILG website.
I have been a member of the faculty in Linguistics at California State University, Fresno since 2001. Before that, I held teaching positions at the University of California, Irvine and California State University, Dominguez Hills. My teaching has focused on theoretical/comparative syntax and field methods in linguistics at the undergraduate and graduate levels and on pedagogical applications of linguistics for K -12 teachers.
